CCI Conciliation Bodies – Fast, Fair, and Business-Focused Dispute Resolution
The Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCIs) operate Conciliation Bodies to resolve disputes under the German Act Against Unfair Competition (UWG) - for example, cases involving misleading or unfair business practices. These procedures are based on Section 15 UWG and offer a fast, efficient, and out-of-court solution for resolving such conflicts.
As institutions run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, CCIs embody the principle of economic self-regulation. Their Conciliation Bodies reflect this approach by providing practical, business-oriented dispute resolution services.
As a rule, conciliation proceedings are quick and free of charge. However, if they fail, the parties still have the option of going to court.
Volunteer entrepreneurs with extensive business experience will help you to find an appropriate solution in a personal meeting that meets legal requirements.
The conciliation board procedure is particularly suitable for cases in which the infringement of competition law was committed out of unawareness or negligence. The procedure is not suitable for urgent cases or cases of fundamental legal importance.
Settlement bodies can be called upon informally if you have received a warning letter that you consider to be unjustified or if a company you have warned does not issue a cease-and-desist declaration.
The competent conciliation board is generally located where the defendant has his commercial establishment. Contact your regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry to learn more about the options available and get advice on the best way to proceed.
